Karnataka Rajyotsava 2025 Celebrating the Pride of Karnataka on November 1
November 1 | Karnataka Formation Day | Unity in Language, Culture, and Heritage
Karnataka Rajyotsava 2025, also known as Kannada Rajyotsava or Karnataka Formation Day, will be celebrated on November 1, 2025. The day commemorates the unification of all Kannada-speaking regions to form the modern state of Karnataka. It is an occasion that celebrates language, culture, and the pride of Kannadigas across the world.
History of Karnataka Rajyotsava
On November 1, 1956, under the States Reorganisation Act, all Kannada-speaking areas that were scattered under different administrations—such as Bombay Presidency, Madras Presidency, Hyderabad State, and Mysore State—were unified to form one state. The new state was initially named Mysore and later renamed Karnataka in 1973.
This unification was the result of tireless efforts by visionaries like Aluru Venkata Rao, Kengal Hanumanthaiah, and Kuvempu, who championed the cause of linguistic unity and cultural pride. Their dream continues to inspire every Kannadiga to preserve and promote the Kannada language.
